HOA Minutes and Notes

Common Area Map

Welcome to The Preserve! The board of the Home Owners Association would like to give you some information about our neighborhood.

• Our board meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Township Civic Center. You are welcome to come and volunteer or come to discuss comments or concerns.

• We have a website where you can access all meeting minutes and the Declaration of Covenants Conditions and Restrictions document.

• We also have a Facebook page where neighbors can communicate. Please look for Ypsilanti Preserve.

• If you would like to communicate directly with us, please email us at board@preservehoa.net.

We also want to communicate some information regarding the annual association dues. Your dues for the remainder of this year were taken care of during your closing, you don't need to worry about them. The next statement will go out at the beginning of next year. You will receive an invoice directly from our treasurer and payment can be made by check, money order, Cash App. The instructions will be found in your statement. Some homeowners have expressed they believed their escrow accounts were also used to pay the homeowner association dues and have therefore neglected to pay their dues on time. Unfortunately, that's not the case; the association dues are to be paid annually directly by the homeowner. Please, let us know if you have any concerns.

In a Homeowners Association (HOA), good communication is crucial for various reasons. The HOA is responsible for managing and maintaining the community, and effective communication helps in fostering a positive and cohesive environment among residents. Here are several reasons highlighting the importance of good communication in an HOA:

1. **Community Engagement:** - Good communication encourages active participation and engagement from homeowners. When residents are well-informed, they are more likely to take an interest in community affairs, attend meetings, and contribute to the decision-making process.

2. **Transparency:** - Transparent communication builds trust among residents. Keeping homeowners informed about HOA activities, financial matters, and decisions enhances transparency, reducing the likelihood of misunderstandings or disputes.

3. **Conflict Resolution:** - Clear and open communication is essential for resolving conflicts. When issues arise, an effective communication system enables the HOA to address concerns promptly and find amicable solutions, preventing disputes from escalating.

4. **Policy and Rule Understanding:** - Effective communication ensures that residents are aware of community rules, policies, and any changes in regulations. This helps in promoting a sense of responsibility among homeowners and ensures compliance with community guidelines.

5. **Emergency Preparedness:** - Good communication is vital during emergencies. Whether it's a natural disaster or a community-specific issue, a well-established communication system ensures that residents receive timely and accurate information, helping them respond appropriately.

6. **Financial Transparency:** - HOAs manage finances for community upkeep. Transparent communication regarding budgeting, assessments, and financial reports helps residents understand where their money is going and how it benefits the community.

7. **Project Updates:** - When the HOA is undertaking projects or making improvements, keeping residents informed about progress, timelines, and any potential inconveniences helps manage expectations and minimizes disruptions.

8. **Sense of Community:** - Good communication fosters a sense of community among residents. Regular newsletters, meetings, and social events create opportunities for neighbors to connect, share information, and build relationships.

9. **Enhanced Property Values:** - A well-managed community with effective communication often results in increased property values. Potential buyers are more attracted to communities where they can easily access information, understand the rules, and witness a positive community atmosphere.

10. **Efficient Decision-Making:** - Effective communication streamlines the decision-making process within the HOA. When information is shared efficiently, board members can make informed decisions collaboratively, ensuring the best interests of the community.

In summary, good communication in an HOA is essential for community engagement, conflict resolution, transparency, emergency preparedness, financial management, and overall community well-being. It contributes to a harmonious living environment and helps maintain property values over time.

Building a strong community starts with individual relationships. Be friendly, considerate, and supportive of your neighbors here in our neighborhood.  Simple gestures, such as welcoming new residents or organizing a neighborhood get-together, contribute to a positive community atmosphere here at the Preserve.
